Our Story

We are Lesley Burr and Lucy McBride, and together we are Rusted Revolution.

Rusted Revolution is our carefully curated blog and jewelry brand. We put a personal twist on fashion, utilizing inspiration drawn from all facets of culture — music, art, food, and travel — to facilitate our writing and designing processes.

The two of us met at Boston College, and it was friendship at first sight. At 7:31 p.m. on September 7, 2010, Rusted Revolution was born. It was the first week of our senior year, and we were chilling in front of our living room television, chatting about our favorite fashion blogs. Within half an hour, we had created our very own.

Boston was our original base of operations, but in the past two years, we have spread Rusted Revolution’s influence to our hometowns of Chicago and New York, to Los Angeles, and to other parts of the country and world as well. We are better together but we’re currently living apart — as a museum web and social media geek in Chicago, and a super saavy stylist in Los Angeles.

Juggling real world careers with a blog and jewelry brand can be challenging, but we pride ourselves on the time and effort we put into our artist collaborations and brand features. Currently we have been collaborating with other designers, musicians, and start-up companies for features that showcase new talent. As young twenty-somethings still trying to figure out our way in the world, we like to emphasize the work of young professionals and entrepreneurs like ourselves.

Our current jewelry collection is structured around a love for wearable heavy metal of a neo-gothic and romantic nature. The focus of these pieces is to make women who wear them feel powerful without losing their femininity.
